Case Study: A Cinderella Story (2004)

Released in 2004, A Cinderella Story is typical of most teenage romcoms from America. Feel good, slightly cliché and designed to appeal to a large audience.

Budget: $20,000,000 US
Gross: $51,431,160 US

Interestingly, it only grossed £3,753,534 GB.

This is perhaps a British audience was and maybe still is slightly wary of feel good US romcoms, and whether they portray a genuine image of college-life in America. Of course, they generally don't.

This film is particularly relevant to what I wish to achieve, because the two protagonists get to know each other over the internet. This is a good model for how my story can develop using the internet.
